last friday my colleagues were a little kooky and decided that it had to be a 'checks' day so most of us turned up in gingham prints! i'm reminded of christopher kane's spring 2010 collection. we took funny photographs at the end of the day.

in the evening i met the girls for dinner at oriole - i had attempted to make reservations too late and the queue for a table of 7 was too long so in the end we headed to mandarin gallery's 'jones the grocer' and fortunately it was hidden away from the general crowded so we got a seat there. it turned out to be a nice quiet evening with a platter of antipasti shared amongst all of us with great coversation and funny love stories. what i like about this place is that despite being in a shopping mall it had a lofty ceiling.

tina and benson came over for dinner - tina from hong kong. such a lovely time we had. the menu was: vegetable stirfry with sprinkled ikan billis/ deep fried pork cutlet with home made tomato sauce/ baked chicken with home made teriyaki sauce/ grilled portobello mushrooms and squid glazed with honey teriyaki/ yellow ginger paste fried mackeral/ corn and carrot soup with dried scallops and red dates with 2 bottles of red wine. and to round it off we had blackforest cake in the living room that the guests brought.

floral decorations for the home...i was going for the wildflower look that i love...that thick green batch of leaves in the second last picture - i didn't know how to compose them with the rest of the flowers and decided that i have to look out for more vases to expand my options.

on a separate note we were at meiji supermarket at liang court and discovered that meji imports muller yoghurts - which means they are half the price compared to buying at other cold storage supermarket outlets - nice! and, i bought all three of the different types of cherry flavours. after browne's black cherry yoghurt disappeared from the supermarket i've bad to settle with other brands but this is the first black cherry yoghurt other than brownes's that i've seen in years and so of course i had to buy it and i loved it!
