weekends should be longer
nephew update

it was my mother's birthday on saturday and we had dinner at ee jie's house where she prepared steamboat, steam chicken et. et. and we had a chocolate cake. the babies were the centre of attention. it was baby samuel's first trip out of the house and he has grown so much since coming out of the belly five weeks ago and he's not as fair as he was at the hospital. we kept trying to keep him awake so that siew jie won't have a difficult time in the night when he won't sleep but he was very comfrotable in ern's rocking cradle. i caught him smiling a few times. baby ern on the other hand is teething so ee jie gave him a treat which was meant to help his teething process and it was funny to see how he enjoyed it.

on the domestic front

today we were at chinatown market for early lunch after going to the earlier service at church - there's so much more sunday left when we go for the 7.30am service! - and mingyao bought watercress so after our nap at home we sat at the dining table and peeled the roots off the water cress to boil for tomorrow's dinner. apparently the ones with the roots are sweeter, but it comes with the hassle of peeling - there's a regular vegetable stall mingyao goes to at the market and the lady is quite funny. she won't sell you something if it's not fresh. apparently, as mingyao narrated to me, after scraping off the mud of one of the lotus roots she found a spot and put it aside, telling mingyao she would get him another one because that one was not perfect. such honesty!

recall tokyo

i remember i haven't posted pictures of my tokyo trip. here are snippets: christmas decorations/ japanese yogurt! / curry katsu at the tokyo train station that was very near our apartment.

goodnight and goodbye weekend.
