happy birthday husband.

chapter one.

i hid a chet baker cd - 'playboys', collaboration with art pepper - in mingyao's study desk drawer and he couldn't wait till the next day when i told him there was a surprise for him so he went to search for it.

chapter two.

friday was mingyao's birthday and we had dinner with his parents at the cathy restaurant. while the presentation was quite refreshing for chinese food, i would say the content itself was good but nothing to really wow me. dessert was almond paste - in our secret hearts we were gleeful as we had almond paste from chinatown market (served chilled) for the past two nights -

i told him that i had another present for him and yes it was in the same drawer; another chet baker cd. collect them all!

chapter three.

we had dinner at sage the restaurant (fond memories a year back with mingyao's colleagues on the food+wine session and yes the duck confit) run by husband and wife team jusman so and kimberly chew. they had moved into a shop house at mohammad sultan road. so we dolled up and we walked past the restaurants (before and after dinner) around the area and decided that we should check out new restaurants more. the service was impeccable with the wife serving guest personally and yes when i called for reservations i was pleased that they were able to give mingyao a surprise birthday cake. we had the same things for dinner. the mushroom soup described so pretty - Cappuccino of wild mushrooms with truffle infused scrambled eggs, asparagus and morel cream; the duck confit
