i had a lovely birthday day today. facebook meant i had a lot more birthday wishes :P i appreciate them anyhow, as well as the flooding of sms, especially those that came from old friends, and i got another wedding invite in one of them. the colleagues were so lovely. jingmei, come and look at the tiles - mingfang used that to lure me to the meeting table where there was a chocolate cake with many candles and the collegues wished me happy birthday and they were so lovely to give me a borders voucher for a present.
most brilliant was when mingyao came and picked me up to a secret place just a few minutes away - flutes at the fort at fort canning, that we always mentioned we wanted to try but never did until now. such a lovely location away from the hustle hidden in the foliage. we both had lobster bisque that came with lovely herbed bread that we dipped in olive oil - and the mains - mine was a black cod in teriyaki sauce and mingyao had a french _____ with duck (the most flaky duck i have ever had), pork belly and saussage. we were stuffed to the brim with a tiny space for dessert. we both decided to share the chocolate fondant and i had a surprise because they brought the dessert in an extra long dish that had additional desserts and a candle and birthday greetings in chocolate - lovely mingyao had called them beforehand and told them to arrange something - both the extra dessert and the one we ordered were on the house so that was a nice gesture - the service is very good and the atmosphere is ace. it's full even on a tuesday so make a booking if you wanna have dinner there. i think the decor was very tasteful - the old intricate architecture was painted all white that i thought was great in bringing out the patterns and there were paintings on the wall.
we were so stuffed we decided to take a walk around park mall and look at furniture even though the shops were closed. it was nice just to be with him.
and i got my birthday present which mingyao chose because he's such a stylish one - i have my first pair of brown leather stilettoes with the most subtle ankle detail. he had already brought it to the cobbler to get the sole rubberised.
chic shoes.
