gave up on 'middlemarch', just not in the mood for it now. so i picked up '1984'. it's better.nowadays though i'm a magazine addict. shrek 2 today, hilarious. tired.
i am too defensive. psychologically i can excuse myself by analysing my childhood and saying i've always wanted to sound 'valid', to be heard, so now i'm too defensive in my opinions and dont' give others a chance.
but, no excuses. i'm going to try to zip it up from now on.

"These things are meant to be. Jack shall have Jill, nought shall go ill. I might have lived thencefoward happily ever after. (But what does 'ever' mean") Her best line, her most unforgettable line, delivered with such casualness but with such depths of promise:
"Share my taxi?" - pg 78
That one, my Jack, he picked me up today from the office and we drove to taka and had dinner at paragon's spaggeddi's, a very filling pasta dinner, too buttery to my liking, the sauce. and we walked about town and i admired the shoes at Tangs, the best shoe place in town. originality and specialness comes at a price, over a hundred dollars to be exact, for the range at tangs, but it's only once in your life you get to adorn your feet in such comfortable finery, if you can afford it, why not? ah, design, and ah, fashion. it's inexplicable i've been lost in the world of Vogue and Bazaar magazines. Indulgent? not at all. And we saw this really nice pink top in the valentino boutique at paragon, corset like front long sleeve collared shirt, and miumiu, beautiful.
hello now come back to my world. i'm done with agnes grey, she married mr weston and lived moderately ever after. and now i'm onto middlemarch after a revived moderate hunger for english classics. the big fat russian classic sitting on my table looked too intimidating, or rather, i'd rather have the english wit for now then the psychological analytical babble of tolstoy's characters. soon enough i'll move on.
i've been all over the world. two weeks ago,it was 'a fine balance' - india, last week was 'ever after' and today 'middlemarch' -that's england for you, and after this it'll be 'war and peace', in the russian galaxy.
felt swishy today with my green stretchy skirt and black top and brown sandels with the flower prints.
oh what frivolous rambling. haha.

what's new?
i'm now onto 'agnes gray' by anne bronte.
i realised i like the texture of my bioterm lipstick very much.
dkny and calvin klein have droolworthy clothes with disgusting prices.
nine west has gravity defying high heels.
my birks make my feet look sloppy. must be the dirty green colour.
i did better than i expected for my final project last sem which is miraculous considering i had unimpressive boards, no three dee renderings, and some unfinished business with the site landscape response.
'time of rebirth' by the observatory is my current favourite album. i especially like track 4, the starting beat is great. the meloncholia is very interesting, it's not the whatever emo-claiming moaning and groaning like limp biz whatever or effer whatever. it's so pure, so clear, sad without whining, pure joy, vintage chocolate sound. i listen to sad sounds alot. currently before this was air's 'talkie walkie', haunting love songs in a good flow of surrealness, sweetness, upside down and all about sound.
also. these mornings i have the three morning guys from ninety five fm radio and vernetta lopez keeping me company.
and also, try to love the very people you hate most and you'll be a much better person for it, your heart will truly shine.
next week i shall finally start on leo tolstoy.
war and peace.

she didn't like milan kundera's 'unbearable likeness of being'very much.somehow it seemed too pretentiously chim, but appeared rather artificial. or maybe it just didn't eat into me. or maybe cos it was a translation so it didn't come out right. but whatever. writing about life, and death, the blunt exactness of truth spilled out, kundera, to me, cannot beat graham swift.

been reading r. mistry's book, a fine balance, which i've read before. it's a really emotional piece of fiction about the caste system in India. the conversational humour is pretty entertaining too, and reading it again never fails to humble me about my privileges.
last night i met up with the studio with erik for dinner and drinks at indochine, where the ambiance was ok, food was not bad, service not that good. we waited outside for seats then went to the lounge area near the pretty shark tank to wait for dinner seats, and i didn't know so i ordered a lychee martini, then we went outside to have dinner, and i had vietnamese beef noodles. dinner conversation was about architecture, living, travelling, jaded criticisms and inspiration and trying to find out what interesting 'underground' places and activities we have in singapore, and we could hardly think of any cept 'fat frog' which is the closest we could get to something 'alternative'. and random thoughts come to me about how i'm thinking about travelling to other parts of the world when i'm reading about the tragic lives of the protagonists in the book i'm reading whose lives are torched with depressing events and they're pretty real. still, it's a contradiction out there, we complain the world is fair but we feel good about the superiority we derive from our certain circumstances, we are human beings after all. the thing is not to talk so much, but to read listen and see.
anyway, i can't stand it, topshop and d perkins have such great clothes this season.
then i went to MY's house in the morn, had chee cheong fun and a nap and dragged myself to nydc suntec to meet the YAH team for lunch and discussion, and we were paid for our contributions, which feels funny cos we basically did the work without expectation of pay. it's a blessing. oh MY i didn't let u hear talkie walkie.
been at work this week, cadding a penthouse interior, had two cakes for collegues' birthdays' celebrations and next sat there is a bbq at joyce's house, i'm suppose to bring prawns.
dad is cooking steak tonight, wheee.

fire in the belly hohoho
went to east coast this morn with the family and did some running.
went to vjc after that and saw mr s lim getting dunked and shaking his fists at his students 'more gp essays for u!'haha.
the odac people have got pretty fun facilities now. woah.
met sammie, sharon to get ying's present and we had fiery wholesome tomyam steamboat at parkway food court. woah. fire in the belly hohoho lasted me the whole day. the blazing sun didnt' help... we popped by chris's pantry to visit christina and sharon got a choc desert which was great but the fire in my belly couldnt take anymore.
i'm still feeling it, it was really delicious.
work on mon.
