last night at cell, at alex's huge pad with a view - kinda reminds me of 60s/70s californian interior spaces - i got a surprise birthday cake - oreo ice cream cake chosen by daniel - sob. very touched. plus, i really like thursday nights.

IT'S FRIDAY I'M IN LOVE!

+++

i think i'm getting the hang of it - running in the morning makes me feel good throughout the week. my internal clock wakes me up at 545am even before the alarm clock does. i'm also getting the hang of making myself get enough sleep. last week i managed to run 3 out of 5 weekday mornings - this week only 2, but at least one was a super good one. maybe i really can wear out the running shoes by september - can't wait to buy new trainers.

+++

plus tonight was quite nice - coffee with some arki friends after collecting the grad gown. talking about work is, in itself, rather interesting - i think we're all somewhat happy. then mingyao picked me up and we had (not really crispy) prata and (too sweet) teh ping at jalan kayu. seriously, upper thomson is better for indulgent suppers.

twenty six is moderately indulgent and calmly happy

i had a great birthday on the weekend with feasts of many kinds - paulana b. for a carnivorous platter of pork knuckle, chicken, duckling, pork something else, a million types of saussages, the german sauteed cabbage etc. etc. and a bottle of moet and twenty roses elsewhere. and in the morning mingyao and i had a breakfast buffet at the greenhouse at the ritz - we ate everything. plus at rachel's wedding in the noontime we had much food too. plus he holds my hand all the time.

twenty six is a good new haircut with an intelligent length with a goodbye kiss on the cheek from mother on the way out of the salon. twenty six is loving much and much in love with everybody and everything. twenty six is knowing tea does it for me, not coffee. twenty six is being in love with the morning air and pounding nikes on the pavement to radio music - a birthday run capped sunday evening. twenty six is sms(s) from favourite friends. twenty six is a view from somewhere special - physical and metaphorical. twenty six is a blessing of many sorts.

hair-cutting has always been an intimate experience for me - mother and daughter bonding time. this time it was late at night where i chopped off my locks to a neither here neither there around the shoulder/neck location. but i love it so.

monday to wed has been good - morning jogs are make the week last longer, seemingly.

and after said haircut mingyao picked me up and we had supper at holland village's crystal jade.

[a very smart]bohemian rhapsody

i like going to concerts because of all the things that go on in my head while i'm sitting in my chair; i like listening to music with stories and histories behind them. on friday i went with mingyao to his secondary school's band concert. although technically it wasn't fantastic - this comes through the experience of going to so many concerts in the past few years - and there was a sea of school children in the crowds making all kinds of school children hubbhub - i liked the selection of songs because of all the nostalgia. the alumni band played a selection of pieces from les miserables - that would be my mostest favourestest musical; what with memories of being in london and after alevels, etc. etc. - plus after the interval they played the queen symphony - never heard of it but the program booklet gave a detailed description of the background and the different adagios, etc. etc. - "The Queen Symphony is an integrated work for orchestra and choir in which tolga kashif hoped to express the original essence of the great music of (the rock band ) queen...in many respects, Queen's music is embedded in the juxtaposition of classic and rock genres; the sound may be rock-oriented but when stripped down to the bare components, the core contains as valid a thematic basis for symphonic treatment as any work in this genre..." - like woah, i like to ride my bicycle in the classical genre. modernised version of classics i've heard but this is something quite awesome for a friday night. i was just disappointed i didn't know all the songs enough top pick them up through the interpretations. i do remember, 2000, sprawled on a sofa in a tiny flat in london with ee jie in the next room cooking chicken rice and a documentary about the band was on tv and i was feeling very low listening to their story of drugs, etc. etc.

i love everything in filippa k!

slightly long term plan (tentative) - 21km run this year?
pretty women

the covers of the two recent cd purchases i made are so pretty - Dolores O'Riordan is so sweet-looking here. i love her outfit and hair - so different from the punk style of her cranberries days. anyways, this was a present for mingyao because of nostalgia (product of the 90s) for being so smart. i haven't had time to really listen to them. weekend yay.

heralding good stuff

this morning was bleak. morning run was good. sky was grey. songs were depressingly good. epiphany. noontime brought very good news.

saturday: sherry ann's wedding at a catholic church at rocher road that was more than a hundred years old with glass louvre windows and no airconditioner but instead, ceiling fans swirling beneath stained glass panels set within blue walls - and dinner later at a cantonese restaurant at clarke quay filled to the brim with architecture people.

sunday: must use borders discount - bought a copy of j. kerouac's on the road which someone had already flipped through for like a million hours because there was a (heartbreaking; wrinkly) line on the spine but it was the only one left and so i had to get it (big sur comes later, and so.) and i went for a run (finally finally) in the evening.

monday: mingyao picked me up for dinner and we went to sushi tei at paragon/ stuffed ourselves with the usual/ took a walk to a million cd shops to search for mingyao's exclusively reclusive unfind-able cd and i wanted to buy nouvelle vauge's latest cd but the shop there were (longwinded) obstacles - i don't like two or three of the tracks inside, but i like enough of them to want it, sometime. and hmv at the heeren looks pathetic now - the glorious past of wondering through tower records and a gigantic hmv in school uniform times is over. there is something beautiful about buying cds rather than downloading - like a book - the solidarity and print art is such a tactile experience.

( to mingyao ) : it's out on the 7th of July.

friday i'm in love part 28483

real love is peaceful because there is no need to justify so many things and justification is so tiring - seeing how selfless mingyao is in his love towards me has made me more generous and forgiving in my affections to people around me. love is a beautiful thing like that.

All my little plans and schemes,
Lost like some forgotten dreams.
Seems that all I really was doing
Was waiting for you.

the beatles, real love
