superman returns! besides lord of the rings, this movie was another one to look forward to because of its nostalgic associations. it was a good movie, and superman looked good doing all his super saving. he's the best amongst all the superheros, possibly because his identity isn't associated with an animal. i remember sprawled on my sofa watching christopher reeves save the world on random afternoons, and then there was supergirl too, if any of you remember that series. the superheros of the 80s.

seven dishes amongst us two for teo chew porridge.

cherryade and the bee

mingyao the best threw me a birthday party at his home and the rain, it stopped for me, continuing only after the caterers had left the place. music was coleman hawkin's desdafino and pink martini on the white porch and grassy area and mingyao's mother cooked delicious laksa and carrot cake. a very floaty party where i could gather all my favourite friends together, bathed in catch up dialogue and feed them food and indulge in very very good etoile chocolate cake. i bet everybody wanted seconds! and i sent them off home with goodbye chocolate [meiji, individually wrapped]. thank you all for the great time and the gifts, you make my heart go aww.

hey love, thanks for everything.

and so i think i should value time as i do value the structural beauty of a well-concocted sentence. i've delayed delving into my books and digging out any trace of deeply-buried intellect to read some well-written blogs. words and thoughts can hold me like a spell. i confess i've always had a desire to be really smart - the superintellect, born-brainiac (how does one spell that anyways), the mensa geek queen. a certain level of smartness, i guess, can be cultivated if one is immersed in an atmosphere of critical questioning, taking the trouble to scrutinise life and being bold enough to form opinions, which do not come by if one is lazy (a fault -thinking time is longer than it really is and not being hard enough on oneself). then again, it's not about smart for smarts sake but some level of smarts allows you to see things in different ways, more ways, live life more intensely blah blah blah. i'm easily inspired but it takes a while for me to be an action type. very bad. henceforth i had better 'wake up my idea' (so to speak) or else i am doomed. i need to do some playacting, like take on a pretend-mugger persona, then maybe i will really become one. since my mind works with dramatics, i've just got to hope dramatics makes me a better mugger.

like you know once you lace up your shoes and you have music in your ear, you are back from the run before you know it. meaning, just do it (nike says)

still, i have to do a bit of bland narrative journalling for the record. this mingyao, this boy, this very nice boy. today after i sent some photos for reprinting he sent me to school where i did some research and he went to do some research to 'pimp his ride' and he picked me up again from school and the nicest thing was he called me twice at night cos he said he missed me too much. ah. how to not fall in love liddat.

you don't sleep until you get some work done you hear me. (that was my other persona's soliloquy)

yesterday we were at sentosa with the ym kids - soccer and captain's ball was a great workout. we went to the sony gallery in town to send mingyao's car amp in for repair and had dinner at crystal jade. whilst he went for joh practice at church i went to the national library to do research and popped by re::act's exhibit before it closes today - pretty inspiring exhibit. today we went to terrence and sharon's wedding and terrence's song dedication was so sweet. we didn't stay long during the lunch reception however because mingyao was not feeling well. we went to parkway parade where we we had herbal tea and guiling gao then to his house to rest, after which we decided to go for a short detour to bengawan solo and we drove to the beach to eat our nonya kueh and drink ribena in the car before he sent me home. i have fun with you anywhere. i love the ache (of the soccer game) but hate the way my body is feeling so toxic this week(mental note: i need to run alot this week and drink a lot of water). father's day dinner - we are now going to the coffee shop for zi char.

I love you Sunday song
The week's not yet begun
And everything is quiet
And it's always...

You and me always, and forever

the wannadies

on stereo repeat. i love this song. i got the feeling, it's one of them 'us' songs. i am ALWAYS happy with you. i am truest when i am with you. and everyday i thank God i have you. you're my favourite day of the week. my favourite holiday.
"A simple semantic game may help you commit yourself to an assignment. Use the word problem as infrequently as possible - it has a negative connotation - and substitute the word challenge. Everybody likes a challenge: The word itself hints at fun, games, and competition. When your problem has been transformed into a challenge, it automatically becomes more interesting and manageable." - J Michael Gillete

i got this quote from an architecture blog i frequent. it made good sense to me, confronting my weakness of magnifying problems and not thinking i am good enough. i think deep down i am a pretty positive person, i need to be more motivated, and braver, and remember to draw strength and motivation from the right sources and not cruise along aimlessly. seventeen all the time. as i get older i go throught sifts and by now i should know what i am good at or weak at and to work on those, put the motivation to go for a super run into everything i do. positive builds on positive and negative builds on negative.

impossible is nothing, says adidas.

post-its:

:: on board the plane back i listened to this. it's quite a nice sweet thing to listen to while reading this which mingyao purchased for me at the brisbane airport with his last aussie dollars

:: i bought a bottle of my regular fragrance at duty free to replace the one i broke last christmas.

:: i read an interesting article about edie sedgwick from the reader's digest while listening to the strokes. they have the latest album on audio-on-demand on board so not bad and john lennon's o yoko while sidegazing at someone next to me who was taking a nap and looking so cute whilst at it

:: avalon airport: like an army bunker in the wilderness and our plane was late by more than an hour. don't trust jetst*r. luckily, we had a laptop and gilmore girls that kept us occupied for an hour

:: on the trip back a fiesty australian granny sat next to us. chats about her adventures volunteering for events, her grandchildren, and her gift of her mango ice cream to mingyao which she couldn't have because of her asthma and mutual rants about a certain domestic airline mentioned above and she initiated a hi-five when i won mingyao in a game of battleship after he killed me at a game of reversi and three of us had coffee together in a row

:: barf bags make good emergency love letter pads

:: he loves me much. i know cos he always gives me the window seat. heh. [ref: the wedding singer]

:: such a lot to do on planes and airports

we went to yiling and raymond's wedding dinner tonight. i was really happy attending their wedding because these are two people who have helped and encouraged me a lot the past few years in architecture. they had a separate dinner at the olive ristoranti for close friends. it was an open-air affair with cool breezes. mingyao wore his scribbles smart shirt and i wore a cream camisole with gold pumps and a new light blue long purse with ribbon trimmings that i got at an accessorize factory outlet at bridge road in melbourne. we lounged in the car as we were early and played with hineken stickers. we met sock, guan and samuel, who sat at our table amongst other strangers and it was really pleasant talking to him, reminiscing about the jcya times and sharing school/work experiences. the food was pleasant especially the dessert and best of all i had my favourite partner by my side. two weeks of him all for myself and i still don't get enough. you cute polaroid.

the thirst for travel is easily quenched by a short summer holiday. i always seem to travel to countries of cold and snow seasons, desserts, distant cities of familiar freeways and chinatowns. anticipation crescendoes, clouds part in blue and white like a cartoon. wit and laziness in a saucy blend and in a beat of cool frosty adventures with a cheeky companion in his martin mcfly nikes, we thread through the streets and then i'm back. i'm ready for summery camisoles. you're my favourite song. you know who you are. stories to come. now i go for a run in my new gold rimmed nike drifit top.

i'm now in australia, have been since last sunday night! accomplished secret yvette plan where we surprised her at her apartment in melbourne on monday. five great days in melbourne and the chilly cold and now i'm in brisbane till friday evening. more updates when i come back, otherwise, sauntering about town with the trumpeter has been a blast.
