count basie jazz orchestra. actually i've never heard of them before, but they were fantastic, they really know how to hold an entertaining concert.many thanks to zhiwei for providing the tickets. whenever i watch a play or a performance at the esplanade, i get reminded of the bad flak that the esplanade got for it's exterior appearance, the grumbling rambles and i'm thankful for such a beautiful place cos honestly, it's a great place to hang out and enjoy the arts if one doesn't start comparing with international icons and values. it's a lot better than when we just had the victoria theatre as the grandest place to watch a performance. going down the escalator i met sabbie lim and her mom. she's flying to japan tomrrow for a holiday before convo. she looked stunning, always does, chic babe that one. and later we met chernwei carrying a box of london macaroons on his way to meet some friends.
the thing about big band swing jazz is that it makes u wanna get your butts off the chair and dance along with whatever inate movements that your body can conjure up but you just have to be satisfied with sitting still and indulging in some finger or feet tapping and head bobbing to the beat. ha. i need some dance lessons!
am now into leo tolstoy's 'anna kerenina'. decided to not start on 'war and peace' first cos i'm more into the indulging in a woman's vices and the mrt rides to and from work with anna and levin and kitty to entertain me has been suitably satisfying. a good book draws u so much into its depths that when you arrive at work after reading in the train you feel like you've just come from russia where tolstoy is from.
today for lunch five of us headed to bras brasah to eat cos bernard had to get materials for the model he is making, which i must say, is a pretty neat model. met julianna there with benson buying materials for their firm's project. hk passed me a john lautner book to scan in the drawing of a glass bar counter i had to cad and i went on a swooning spree at his works. frankly, few have left me amazed as lautner and his houses. it's as soulful as it is grand. courtney cox stays in one of his houses. courtney can i be your friend, and will you let invite me over to stay for a while? gosh. with one million per episode of friends, i'd go get me a lautner designed house in LA asap. it's brilliant and i'm tempted to get the book at basheer, always inspiring that lautner guy.
chin ee is now in spain, visiting gaudi's stuff and mango and zara heaven. cool. chic woman bring back chic pictures and chic stuff.
dim sum dollies with their trollies call me each morning on the radio to head to tangs. ooooh. tangs shoes. the next best poor man's alternative to jimmy choos.
me and some friends are having a dessert cum movie party. we're going to watch 'love me if you dare' that fantastic extreme french movie. good CMY that you can watch since you didnt' watch with me previously. it's a great show. extreme as it may seem, there's really no boundary for love. it's the most magnetic force in the universe, along side hunger, love, is emotional hunger. anyway what to bring for dessert? got two weeks to plan that. we've got 'moulin rouge' and the three extended versions of 'lord of the rings' for back up. hmm vodka jello? which reminds me, meiji yogurt with nata de coco is super delicious, a flavour that is unlike any of the typical fruit flavours you see on the shelves of the cold storage section. maybe i'll buy some gelato for the dessert party. maybe not. i'm going to source for something more exotic! oooh, desserts and foreign films and dear friends, a good combination for a saturday night.
the people at work are great. i think i'll get them a box of royce before i stop work. maybe i should extend working to mid july? that would mean earning five hundred dollars more. hmm u think CMY? i stop on the day you get back? that week at least. after all, better earn more money now. CMY, dim sum dollies date?
details. take note. how to build and dont' be a shoddy dazed eyed idiot, me to myself. punctuality is my new goal. procrastination the old habit to destroy.
borders here i come tomorrow. bliss.
